Paris ♥

One of my wishes in life is to go to Paris for my honeymoon. I know, I know, it sounds so cliché but what can I say? I’m a hopeless romantic.

I want to shop and go sightseeing in the beautiful city of love. I want to fall in love all over again.

Skip on the streets, ride a bike, eat macaroons and cheesecake like that girl in the Miss Dior Cherie commercial.

Kiss in front of the Eiffel Tower (I’m a weirdo I know).

Drink coffee outside a café.

Visit the Eiffel Tower. Well duh I’m going to see the Eiffel Tower. What moron goes to Paris for the first time and doesn't go to see the Eiffel Tower. It won’t be me.

Cruise on the Seine River on Bataeu Mouche like Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant in the movie Charade.

Watch the Opera at Opera Garnier.

Drink hot chocolate at Angelinas (I’ve heard they serve the best hot chocolate in the world, tastes just like melted chocolate. YUMS).

Have High Tea the Ritz (très chic).

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Have you ever regretted buying things… over and over again? Well, I have. Over these past few years I started working part-time and earned quite a big sum of money. Unfortunately my bank account will never vouch for it because it’s empty. Why? You say. Well, it’s because I’m a shopaholic. I hate to admit it. But I am. I buy things just for the thrill. Once, I get going I never stop. Silly me. I need serious help. I usually get an urge to spend my money. I think “Oh, I’ve got lots of money in my account, I deserve to spend it.” When I’m on my way home it hits me, I realize I’ve spent too much money. I have this whole conversation in my head about how I need to control myself in the future. Sadly, it never works and I repeat the same conversation with myself. Shopping is like a drug to me, I can’t function without spending money.

I feel like Rebecca Bloomwood from the Shopaholic series written by Sophie Kinsella, who struggles with paying off credit card bills. I should freeze my credit card in a huge ice cube like she did but I’m afraid it might damage the chip. Oh, what will I do with myself? I feel sorry for my future husband, he will need to work day and night to pay off my spending habits. But that’s alright, I’m sure he’ll do whatever it takes to keep me happy. ;)

BARNEYS

As Sarah Jessica Parker once told Vanity Fair, 'If you're a nice person and you work hard, you get to go shopping at Barneys. It's the decadent reward.'

I hope one day I’ll get to shop at Barneys. *sigh*

Baking Miracle!

OK, I have a confession to make. I love baking, and its my passion. I know you all already know that, but what you don't know is that I have never made an actual edible cake or cupcake in my life (I can bake other goodies but never cakes). They all turn out beautiful (decorated, well actually camouflaged with yummy icing and edible pearls) but once you take a big chunky bite out of it you might actually get sent to the ER. I am seriously not joking.

Yesterday, I bought home  Duncan Hines White Cake Mix in the hopes of finally baking an edible batch of cupcakes I carefully followed the instructions but substituted and added some other ingredients to bake fluffy and moist vanilla cupcakes. To the Mix I added 4 beaten eggs, 1 1/3 cup of milk instead of water, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and about the same amount of butter. I made the batter nervously and popped it in the oven. I took them out in 21 minutes. The box said 21-24 minutes but mine cooked faster. I let them cool and finally took a bite out of the decadent cupcakes. It was a miracle. I finally made cupcakes. Thrilled, I took some icing and iced two toned rosettes on each of the cupcakes and gave them to my family. They loved it and were so proud of me. It was a success!!

If you would like to know how to make two toned icing- simply take a food colour of your choice and thoroughly coat the inside of your piping bag. You may use a brush or you can use a spoon (like I did). Then start adding your white butter cream. Once you are done make sure to squeeze the buttercream out to see if its coming out two toned. Two - toned buttercream is best used to make rosettes.

Starbucks Daze at Chapters

What is it with atmosphere in Starbucks? I feel like making it my second home.

I went to my nearest Chapters Indigo the other day and purchased a bunch of murder mystery books. I love reading mysteries and getting shocked when I figure out who the killer is. I often choose to read these types of books in the colder months so I can cozy up on my couch with a blanket and a warm cup of hot cocoa and read until I get drowsy.

Anyways, back to Starbucks…..

As we all know in every Chapters bookstore there is always a Starbucks. I went in after purchasing my books and got myself my favourite holiday drink- Peppermint Mocha. I looked for a spot in the corner of the store and made it my territory. I took out my book and started reading in the dim lit room, drowning out the sound of the people talking on their cellphones and the typing noise of social networking obsessed people. I sat in that store for literally five hours reading and consuming coffee. I felt at peace in Starbucks. I am honestly making more trips to Starbucks just to relax and feel at ease. I have no idea what is wrong with me, but I love that place.

My First Blog Entry

Hello Everyone,Today is the start of my very first blog, and I am really excited. I can't wait to document all my thoughts, and feelings. I hope I will continue to write until and when I start my own family (no I am not married (yet), but I hope to be someday). Anyways, I would like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Iqra Ahmad and I am 22 years old. Let me stop you there for a moment. A lot of people get shocked when I tell them I am 22. They don’t believe me. They think I am a teenager. I hate it when they tell me I look like a kid, but at times I am glad they think I look younger because once I turn 30 , I won’t look it.  Yay, for me. I am currently a University student majoring in English and Geography and aspire to be a teacher. I love to write and read. (boy, do I love to read).  I have started my own diary and love writing in it, but it has turned more into a scrapbook than a diary. So, now I have decided to use this as my diary.

If you met my friends they will tell you that I am a sophisticated type of person, or at least I try to be one. I am the type of person who loves to wear heels all the time (even in the house). To me it spells sophistication. I love wearing pearls and lace dresses, I love pastels and sometimes daring reds and black. One of my most known hobbies (other than reading and writing) is baking. I am a passionate baker. I bake whenever I can, and when I’m not baking I’m watching baking videos on youtube.

I am just so excited for this blog, I have been reading peoples blogs for years and they have become wonderful mommies to the cutest babies. I hope one day my blog will turn out like theirs - full of adventures, laughter and happiness.
